Airportr’s baggage collection and check-in service is designed to make your journey as smooth as possible. Depending on your airline and departure airport, passenger presence requirements at the time of baggage collection can vary.
Below is a simple guide to help you understand who needs to be present on collection day, and what documents are required.
When Only the Lead Passenger Must Be Present
For certain airlines and departure airports, only the lead passenger needs to be present during baggage collection.
The lead passenger must present all required travel documents for the entire booking, including:
Boarding passes for all passengers
Passports or valid identification for all passengers
This applies to:
Swiss International Air Lines (departing from Zurich or Geneva only)
Edelweiss (departing from Zurich)
Austrian Airlines (departing from Vienna)
Lufthansa (non-US-bound flights, including European departures)
British Airways (all routes)
Multiple airline booking references on the same flight
If your journey includes two separate airline booking references, this does not automatically change who needs to be present for baggage collection.
You can still follow the lead passenger presence rules above, and only one person needs to be present, provided that:
All passengers are travelling on the same date
All passengers are on the same flight
All baggage is being collected from the same address
When these conditions are met, a single Airportr booking and one present passenger are sufficient for collection.
If passengers are travelling on different flights, different dates, or from different collection addresses, separate Airportr bookings will be required, and the relevant passenger(s) must be present for each collection according to the airline rules.
When All Passengers Must Be Present
For other airlines and departure airports, all passengers listed on the booking must be present at the time of baggage collection.
Each passenger must bring their own boarding pass and passport or valid identification.
This applies to:
Swiss International Air Lines (departing from airports other than Zurich or Geneva, including Frankfurt)
Edelweiss (departing from airports other than Zurich)
Austrian Airlines (departing from airports other than Vienna)
Lufthansa (if travelling to the United States)
Virgin Atlantic
Air Canada
Singapore Airlines
Why Passenger Presence Matters
Passenger presence during baggage collection is required by our airline partners to ensure:
Accurate identity verification
Compliance with airline check-in policies
Secure handling of checked baggage
To avoid any disruption on collection day, please make sure the correct passengers - along with the required documents - are available based on your airline and departure airport.
If you’re unsure which category applies to your journey, our team can help confirm this for you ahead of collection.
