Airportr’s baggage collection and check-in service is designed to make your journey as smooth as possible. Depending on your airline and departure airport, the presence of passengers during baggage collection may differ.
Below is a helpful guide to clarify who needs to be present at the time of collection.
When Only the Lead Passenger Must Be Present
For certain airlines and routes, only the lead passenger is required to be present during baggage collection. The lead passenger must present all necessary travel documents for the entire booking, including:
- Boarding passes for all passengers
- Passports or identification for all passengers
This applies to:
- Swiss International Air Lines (departing from Zurich or Geneva)
- Edelweiss (departing from Zurich)
- Austrian Airlines (departing from Vienna)
- Lufthansa (non-US-bound flights)
- British Airways (all routes)
When All Passengers Must Be Present
In other cases, all passengers listed on the booking must be present at the time of collection, along with their own boarding passes and passports.
This applies to:
- Swiss International Air Lines (departing from airports other than Zurich or Geneva)
- Edelweiss (departing from airports other than Zurich)
- Austrian Airlines (departing from airports other than Vienna)
- Lufthansa (if travelling to the United States)
- American Airlines
- Virgin Atlantic
- Air Canada
- Singapore Airlines
Why Presence Matters
Passenger presence during baggage collection is a requirement from our airline partners to ensure:
- Proper identity verification
- Compliance with airline check-in policies
- Security and handling of checked baggage
To avoid any disruptions on collection day, please ensure the right people — and documents — are available according to your airline’s requirements.
