Airportr’s Departure Service offers secure baggage collection from your address, followed by check-in directly with your airline.
This guide explains the baggage collection process step-by-step so you can be fully prepared on collection day.
1. Confirm Collection Details
Before collection, please make sure you:
Have received your confirmed booking email, including your collection time slot.
Double-check your address, flight details, and the number of bags booked for collection.
Complete online check-in with your airline and have all boarding passes ready (printed or digital), unless the conditional acceptance exception below applies.
Have valid identification available for all passengers.
⚠️ Important - Boarding Pass Requirement
In most cases, you must have your boarding pass ready at the time of collection.
If airline check-in has already opened for your flight, baggage cannot be accepted without a valid boarding pass.
Exceptions - British Airways and SWISS
If you are flying with British Airways or SWISS, we may collect your bags before online check-in opens, provided your scheduled collection takes place before check-in becomes available.
Collection before check-in opens is conditional and does not guarantee airline check-in.
Your bags will be conditionally accepted.
You must check in online and download your boarding pass as soon as check-in opens.
Once you have checked in, our system is automatically notified - you do not need to send us your boarding pass.
❗ If check-in is not completed in time
Even where conditional acceptance applies (British Airways or SWISS):
You must be successfully checked in before Airportr hands your bags to the airline.
If check-in is not completed in time, Airportr cannot check your bags in for the flight.
Your bags will instead be returned to you at the airport so you can check them in directly with your airline.
👉 Please check in as soon as your airline allows and contact us immediately if you experience any issues.
2. Prepare for Driver Arrival
On the day of collection:
Be ready within your agreed collection time window.
Ensure all luggage is packed, zipped, and accessible at the entrance of your property.
Remove any old airline baggage tags to avoid confusion.
Ensure all passengers whose bags are being collected are present with their ID and boarding passes (where required).
Airportr drivers cannot wait beyond a reasonable window if bags or passengers are not ready.
3. Complete ID and Boarding Pass Verification
When the driver arrives:
Show your passport or national ID and your boarding pass for each passenger (unless conditional acceptance applies before check-in opens for British Airways or SWISS).
Ensure names match exactly between ID and boarding passes.
The driver will verify each item before accepting any baggage.
Without proper verification, baggage cannot be collected due to security regulations.
4. Tag and Seal Your Bags
After verification:
The driver will apply security seals and Airportr luggage tags to each bag.
You will receive a digital receipt confirming each collected item.
The receipt includes a unique tracking link so you can monitor your bags through to airline check-in.
Your bags are then securely loaded into the Airportr vehicle for transfer to the airport.
5. Special Items
If travelling with special items (such as sports equipment or oversized baggage):
These must be declared during booking.
The driver will tag and seal them using the same secure process.
Additional charges may apply if the item was not pre-booked or exceeds airline limits.
Please ensure special items are correctly packed and compliant with your airline’s policies.
6. Collection Confirmation and Tracking
Once collection is complete:
You will receive email and SMS confirmation that your bags are on the way to the airport.
Your tracking link updates once your bags have been successfully checked in with your airline.
Keep your digital receipt until you reclaim your bags at your final destination.
